Qualcomm signs another EV-DO design deal in Chinadate: June 1, 2002 Following its 1x EV-DO design transfer deal with China's ZTE, Qualcomm has signed a similar agreement with another Chinese manufacturer, Huawei Technologies. Under the terms of the new deal, Huawei is expected to develop cdma2000 1xEV-DO infrastructure modem card equipment. "This agreement will facilitate Huawei Technologies' participation in the rapidly growing wireless Internet market in China and other parts of the world," claimed Barbara Noerenberg, VP of program management for Qualcomm. "As the wireless market begins to offer more enhanced and compelling wireless data services, we will continue to support and provide innovative and advanced CDMA products and solutions," said Yu Chengdong, director of 3G products for Huawei. "Additionally, Huawei's cdma2000 1X system supports 1xEV-DO with software and channel card migration, allowing service providers to leverage heavily from previous investments and existing networks in the future," he added.
